Ebay hone
Pulled the trigger on this, their auctions had jewelers tools and a couple straight razors and they claim its a fine stone so what the hey.
Any ideas at first glance? Figured it was worth that much just to see if it was an ok stone.

If it is as good as mine of that coloration, it will suit you above the 8K level. I believe them to be a UK hone and there were a myriad of different quarries there.

the chip in it makes me think manmade as well. How hard was it to lap it flat? Was it an oilstone? have you compared it to other known hone grits on a piece of steel?

Received the hone and started the fun lapping process.....its a light greenish grey so far...
Not sure what it is...
