Ohh, that's easy <g>. If we all decide NOT to bid some newbie will snap it up for nothing and it will turn out to be a geniune yellow green Escher work a few hundred.
On the other hand we can all bid and fight over it, some experienced member will win it and upon close inspection it will be a vintage Norton 22grit emory stone worth $6.37 <g>.

Or worse Tony, some poor guy just starting out gets it at an inflated price, trashes his only razor and then butcher's his face...

Thanked: 0I get the feeling the bids the Eschers and Belgians have been bringing in have prompted some sellers to toss the word 'razor' in their description lines hoping to add to the final price of their stones even if they've no reason to think their stone was ever made for use in sharpening razors.
Unless glaringly obvious, I don't know how it's possible to figure out a stone's approximate grit from a photo, and doubt the 'here's another rare find' sellers could tell even if they were asked.

well, girls, I'm the lucky buyer ($29.95+$6s/h)....I've already talked to Tony and I'm going to have him take a look at it and see if he can tell what it is, and have him try it out and see if it's any good for razors...
(...yeah, yeah, I know....$36 for THAT???...what can I say...I'm made of money!)
...stay tuned.

Has to be good. Comes in a 'wod' box. Now that is something you don't see every day. Hope it turns out to be the bargain of a lifetime.

Thanked: 0Should we start up a poll on this?
What Did Lou Get?
A) A yellow/green Escher
B) A Translucent Arkansas
C) Belgian Coticule
D) A block of ice
E) Screwed
At least that way the kids at home can play along, too!

Based on past eBay experience, I'm gonna have to go with 'E'.

Thanked: 9Well,
I hope it turns out to be a "normal" Escher. Because if it's just some unusable rock - Lou paid too much and I'd be sad for him, and if it's a green / yellow - I'd be sad for myself because I saw it and didn't get it
Cheers
