Default Joseph Fenton & Sons 6/8 square point

Just scored this nice Joseph Fenton and Sons from North York, Ontario, no customs and low shipping...have had my eye on one of these since reading a few threads on them here.

Should be here this week, then it's going to get cleaned and honed up, and it's a square point.

Funny you said that, Valery at the Gentleman's Den asked me if it had been shortened...here's the other pic with the auction, doesn't look like it's been shortened??? What do you think?

Yes, it has been cut down, say's, "APPROXIMATELY 1/2" SHORTER THAN THE WELL. THIS WAS DONE EITHER TO REPAIR THE RAZOR OR IN SOME CASES TO SUIT THE SHAVING STYLE OF A USER."

Here are the details on the razor if anyone is interested:

it looks well done though, I like the faceted tip. I had a fenton with a similar tip, curious if they shaped the tip to mimic the original tip before cutting it down. I like a slightly shorter razor, I have even bought bunches of chipped razors just for the pupose of cutting down to salvage! chips restrained to the first 1/2" of blade leave a mighty fine razor still in my opinion. the scales to me resemble a durham duplex style, id do it up with some custom horn scales if it were mine to play with

LOL - custom horn scales, you trying to get me in trouble with the purists here....again!

It should be here this week and I'll have a look, if the scales aren't shot to hell, then I'll stay with the original...

haha, not at all, just to me they didn't look like original. im probably wrong, but hey, shortened blade with original scales? might as well take those scales off and shortn to match! and I suppose once they are off.....might as well do up some custom horn scales to compliment that blade, haha! (just don't tell anybody I said that....oh wait....oops!)

Maybe because it is shortened, but that looks wider than 6/8." Either way, great score, and we all look forward to seeing in cleaned up and back on-line.
