What one was that ? 5 minutes later ........ Oh ! You mean this one ; " # 28- Antique Straight Razor 6 1/4 in. long, has inlaid sterling silver shield with monogram, by Wade, Wingfield & Rowbotham, has original wood case, case originally had two razors but we only have one. Blade is 3/4 in. high We will not be listing what the handle is made of and is good. "
Kind of surprising that the poor old thing, half of a set, brought $257.89 + $6.00 shipping but it will clean up nicely I think and whoever the new owner is, he will probably get many years of shaving out of that 6/8 blade. I'm not the "lucky winner" BTW, I like to reference ebay listings with some details after they are done so someone coming upon this thread down the road, after the listing is no longer accessible, will know what the fuss was about.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 480I want to put forth an extra "Thanks" to Jimi for taking the time to add the photos to this thread. I should have thought to do it myself. This would be a great opportunity to document all those scrimmed scales, as in years to come, they might show up again, or be lost to history. =)

I would be really thankful if the new owners of those beauties could post here some detailed pictures of their new scrimshaw acquisitions
