I won't be avoiding SOTD. I'm just trying to not comment on other people's comments on the photography shown, which ranges from horrendous (mine included) to decent (a few of mine) to inventive (which is why I wrote what I did) to magnificent (I'm working on that).

Uuuhhhh I meant the OP.... I had a feeling I knew why you were biting your tongue :<0)

I like all pics myself. The crappy ones is where I get my deals and the purdy ones are just that. Photgraphy is an art form with expression just like custom razors. Just because I wouldn't buy it or use it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the perspective of the artist. To each his own !

If you are talking about my comment, it refers to razors for sale, if i am looking to buy something i need to be able to see it.

Well the OP did say vendors selling . Mine took a little imagination as you have to picture the blade going through the salami and hitting ths cutting board. When I see a blade resting edge down on a hone or other such hard object I think "so much for shave ready". I am no photographer but when I take a pic I try to show as much as I can and hide nothing. If the vendor is not showing a clear view of the razor maybe it is good to ask question and about return policy. Does it really bug me ? nope.

+1 Ed, there are a few vendors who do this and it makes it impossible to assess the condition of the blade. I always though that was why they did it and maybe to their detriment.

Yes, it does drive me crazy and I swear I've seen this done in SOTD pics. If not there then elsewhere on this site(classifieds). I always think something like: "that's crazy! He knows better than that. I can't believe he did that."

I started this thread while I was browsing eBay, and saw razors from three different sellers...all pictured with the cutting edges against the edge of a hone, and on a lovely geode. This had nothing to do with SOTD or the classifieds.
When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

Yup you did see it in some SOTD pics on here. I typically have the bevel of an open blade resting on the rubber lid of the soap container I use. Never lost a shave to doing that.
