I saw a razor with a blade busted like that, or maybe worse, at an antique store. When I opened it and saw the blade was shot, the store owner/employee basically told me the steel was good and if the damage was ground out it would be worth another $75-100.

I thought they had been making straights a long time. You're saying they just started?

When the rust is really deep and localized like (where the blade is under the scales), isn't that red flag for celluloid rot??
I saw a DD (Satinedge I believe) at a shop that looked like that. It wasn't sure if the scales were safe to use and the blade would have been shot if you took all the rust off, so I didn't try to get it. That may have been why most of the razors in the case were so rusted!

I would say that it is a good indication of cell rot especially with those "Ice" scales. If the scales are horn of some other natural material then I would suspect neglect and a high moisture environment.

The last two evenings I found 3 Ahem "Heat treated" razors on Ebaayyyy, what caused the heat? my guess?? is hippies hot knifing hashish or maybe the blades could have been heated to sterilize for minor surgery on animals or humans?

Whatever the reason , the ads were deceptive for those who do not know steel.

Next in the unscrupulous scumbag seller tricks? for me it would have to be Photography.
If I had to write out all the borderline tricks seen in the last week alone it would take several hours. GAWWD I HATE Greedy people. Not much difference between Greedy and Desperate.

In the future, I predict the Greedy will only be good for target practice.

Seller says condition is :Used, good condition.

Are these people playing jokes, dishonest or just plain stupid?

No one should buy a razor from Ebay without reading this entire thread. JMO
