I'm gonna have to say somebody here does not know much about real world economics.

Since when does the restorer NOT influence the value of the item in question?

Joe Shmoe down the street repairs a dented fender on a Hemi Cuda with 3 pounds of bondo Vs George Barris himself (rest his soul) welding in all new metal? Take a wild guess whats going to be more valuable. That Van Gogh? I can take the dust off it fine, but a profession restoration person can properly care for it in ways I can not, and will invariably increase the value as opposed to my attempts that may ruin it for all time.

I did qualify the statement with the quality of the work. The cost involved may be greater for George Barris, but if Joe Schmoe is just as skilled (and we must for the analogy to work otherwise the argument shifts), how does the person doing the work change the utility of the end product? Regardless I think we've all moved on but I appreciate your logic and do agree with it to some degree but not when we are talking utility vs perceived value.

It just gets better! I wrote to him asking if he was serious...exchange as follows.

Me: Are you really serious? That blade is only suited for the recycle bin.

Response: Regular price is $295.00 (asking price is less than 50%) or best offer. The offer of $6.00 is enough to basically ship the item and it's purpose is for collectors. Thank you for your time..

Either delusional or a troll wanting some attention.
I don't think anyone is that stupid but stupidity is never something to be underestimated.

I don't see your issue with this. Someone loved that razor to sharpen it many times and there is over half of it left for your shaving enjoyment!

Nice one. 😊 Perhaps an offer of $30-$40 for the scales would be fair. I think that's horn. Anyone care to try?
