Well, that one is ugly as crap, but the scales look like dyed horn. Just stored wet?

    Frank, you nailed it.

I just looked close at that poor blade and one crusty hinge pin and thought the worst.

But hey, it opens and closes nicely.

Default "... IN GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION"?

Really? Where's the rest of the blade?

When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

I have that one. With the whole blade that is. I can't stand the pieces pinned at the top of the scales. They are sharp as needles if they separate slightly from the scale. Had more than one prick of the finger from it.

oh COME ON, now that was done on PURPOSE! I understand pitting, rust and even some bad shapes and curves that are clearly a result of bad honing, bad and overuse of a pasted strop etc...then there's the stuff on this thread that literally looks like someone either took a BITE out of the edge or actually tried to cut a piece off - how? and more importantly: WHY?

Honestly the number of blades i've seen with chipped and broken edges, pieces "cut" out of them like the one above is just SAD. I'm sure it's just people dropping it or being otherwise careless but it makes me really sad .
