    If it's the slightest under 8/8 I would always say 'a tad under under 8/8' and give the exact measurement. In your case 63/64. But I have to agree with Nelson. The buyer didn't like it and just used the excuse of the width to return it.

    Don't forget that not everyone has a caliper so it might be 63/64 for you but for the buyer who just uses a ruler at eyesight it might look 15/16.

    Razorguy has a link on here of a measuring chart that would be even better then a ruler IMHO

    If I were selling on ebay I would use it

    That being said I use the simple +/- symbols when measuring and have never had an issue

    Your razor would have been measured as 8/8- and described as "A 8/8 that has been honed"

    That is one of the reasons I stopped selling on eBay a long time ago. When you sell a razor and throw in a used vintage brush as a bonus (for free) and the person complains about a few hairs falling out of the brush then leaves Negative Feedback..........

    What he said. eBay experiences can be so totally wrong that I have pretty much quit selling on there, even with hundreds of transactions and a 100% satisfaction rating. It just isn't worth the hassle. Best one I have heard in a while was a guy who, representing himself as an experienced straight razor user, bought a Wade & Butcher but wanted a refund because "it was old..."

    Only one way to do this - have a very correct description. The work overhead compared to setting up the listing in the first place is very little. Another possibility for misunderstanding is the actual measurement - the edge side is clear (unless it has chips/oxidation and the razor is for use) but the spine is fuzzy - is it to the top of the spine, to the hone line, in the second case hone wear cold make this even more ambiguous. Then the width can vary along the blade...

    I think ebay is already forcing the sellers to cover the return shipping for items not as described, so you have to be thinking in terms of winning a dispute on ebay to exclude buyer remorse without reason.

    Also, the big picture is that that's just part of buying and selling stuff - there are all kinds of people and the same person could behave very differently on different days.
