Buying from listings in other countries; hints, tips, or warnings?
So I started looking at some of the listings in ebay France and Germany. I have seen a few things I like and would like to peruse the listings more. However, I don't speak the language and I have been hesitant to pull the trigger.
Does anyone do this on a regular basis? Any hints or tips on what to look for or what to avoid?
Any help is appreciated, thank you for you time!
MattThe older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Doesn't ebay automatically translate if you have a question for a vendor in a non-english speaking country ?

Thanked: 1081I've brought from all over and never had any problems with anything brought from ebay, the only thing to watch out for is customs tax, I've been stung a good few times but its to be expected. As they say a picture paints a thousand words and with translate your good to go.

I've done most of my last purchases from eBay in Spain and France....scored some stunning blades for really I'd say 1/2 or a 1/3 of the price they'd go for on the .com site.
Same guarantee's apply via PayPal and eBay...but haven't had a problem yet.

I think you will find this search string useful for German eBay. Weeds out most of the nonsense listed as cut throat razors.

Apologies for asking, but you guys do realise that eBay's advanced search syntax works everywhere on eBay? Also in France (where you would look for coupe choux) or the UK (where you would look for cut throat). Just keep adding -crap to your search to incrementally refine it. SRP's FAQ has some nice search strings, too.
Happy hunting,
Robin

Yes, coupe choux, navaja de afeitar, big razor, old razor, cut throat razor, and one that worked well, broken straight razor....sometimes you just have to try to get in the head of someone that's selling something they have no idea about and how they might describe it...have yet to try, "scary old razor".
