This just reminded me of a video I just watched on raceism, it was the guys openion that the stuff all the people are yelling about was not racism, the people involved were simply a$$ holes that happened to be black, white, middle eastern etc and people just like to play the racism card .

Thanked: 169I mean, I don't put terrible amounts of stock in worthpoint as ebay can be so random on any given night if you are running a straight auction, but if you take any given desirable piece, prices are universally trending well up... Especially hones and sheffields. The only things that are in icu on life support are wilkinson empires (which were getting huge money a few years ago), and the nicer model schick injectors. Big solingens are up, japanese westerns are up, jnats are up, solingens with ornate scales are up, nice examples of american blades are even getting traction...

I think my reply would have been something like, "thank you for the offer, I can't sell it for that price". That's way easier then trying to figure out who's is bigger.

Same experience on my last two eBay attempts. Offers below what I was asking. I politely said I would not sell at that price. Then the counter offers up $3 to $10 from their initial lowball offer only now I was selling junk and did not know what I was selling. I guess they wanted that junk since they kept upping their offers but maybe they should have just ponied up.
Some people think they are getting a deal when then beat someone down. Personally, it is ok to offer but when you are refused, end it there."The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas." -Linus Pauling

Thanked: 734The internet and its anonymity allows people to behave in ways they wouldn't dream of if they had to do it face to face. The internet can be great but its downside is that it really enables the worst of us to marinate in their own oddity.

Thanked: 315Well, fortunately it sounds like these interactions don't happen too frequently. Some people are just inconsiderate and I don't understand what logic leads them to believe that rude/disrespectful behavior. I have recently made a couple low offers (in comparison to the asking price) recently. A few of the items I felt had overinflated prices. I believe most of those items are still for sale or ended without selling. However, I'm not going to try and convince them their merchandise is junk. If I do leave a message with the offer I try to be respectful. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what I think it is worth because I'm not the one selling it. And yet HE wanted to buy it...
Unfortunately, a lot of people will behave this way face to face as well. They either think they know better than others or that they can pressure people to get what they want.
Other than Craigslist, I don't think I've sold anything on other sites. In the past I used the local classified or called into our local "party line" where you could list your item on the radio over the phone.

Agree, and that's what one of the things that is so nice (and so rare) about this forum and its members. I've been on here going on 2 years, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've had someone be rude or even just short, disagreeable or cranky. Thankfully for me, especially when I was starting out, the forum membership tolerates and supports the uninformed, nurturing them along. It's fun to be part of such a group!
