Thanked: 169Had my first run in with a rude ebayer in awhile
Been a few months since I had to deal with unnecessary ill manners. Someone messaged me on there trying to beat my price down on something with the justification being that straight razors weren't hot anymore and were a retro fad that died down 5 years ago... And that he had like 40 blades so he is well-experienced(when you're talking to a guy who lost count on what he has/d once it got to the level of a good bowling score-as if that makes me a genius about blades, but that is a different matter). His offer was not even terribly under an acceptable one, but it was the tone of it all.... I informed him that he was in error and prices on desirable hones and blades are pretty consistently trending upward and of course the insults start coming from his end... Onto the blocked bidder list... Did me a favor for the future... Is this standard stuff lately, or more isolated?

I would think this is more of a random jerk occurrence. People have to act like they know what they're talking about so that you'll feel dumb and lower your price and then when they find out you're not dumb they insult you. Just some random jerk that you don't want to do business with anyways

Thanked: 169It's like ppl assume that since you have something on the bay you are:
1: Completely ignorant about the item you are selling.
2: Hard up for $

This just reminded me of a video I just watched on raceism, it was the guys openion that the stuff all the people are yelling about was not racism, the people involved were simply a$$ holes that happened to be black, white, middle eastern etc and people just like to play the racism card .

I would like to believe this is an isolated case. But as in life, there are always a few bad apples when harvesting. 😁 I to have had a in fair share of individuals.
Just the other day, I listed an item, hastily I might add. I had listed an item with a best offer (accidentally). After a day, I received a best offer. ??..Why is this? I contacted the buyer after declining his offer and stated this was in error and was a BIN only.
He meeasged me back and stated I was an idiot and a fool to sell something priced as new, stating it was used. I should just throw it away and that I was wasting my time and listing space, to sell an item, no one will buy.
There will always be someone smarter than you,in everything you know.....

Thanked: 169I mean, I don't put terrible amounts of stock in worthpoint as ebay can be so random on any given night if you are running a straight auction, but if you take any given desirable piece, prices are universally trending well up... Especially hones and sheffields. The only things that are in icu on life support are wilkinson empires (which were getting huge money a few years ago), and the nicer model schick injectors. Big solingens are up, japanese westerns are up, jnats are up, solingens with ornate scales are up, nice examples of american blades are even getting traction...

I think my reply would have been something like, "thank you for the offer, I can't sell it for that price". That's way easier then trying to figure out who's is bigger.

Same experience on my last two eBay attempts. Offers below what I was asking. I politely said I would not sell at that price. Then the counter offers up $3 to $10 from their initial lowball offer only now I was selling junk and did not know what I was selling. I guess they wanted that junk since they kept upping their offers but maybe they should have just ponied up.
Some people think they are getting a deal when then beat someone down. Personally, it is ok to offer but when you are refused, end it there."The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas." -Linus Pauling
