Thanked: 237Well our fears proved true. It has excessive hone wear on the toe, a huge amount of dremel polishing along the spine, and a frown from not honing the heel at all. Will be opening a case on both razors I think. The puma isn't as bad, it has more rust than was advertised, especially on the edge. I wish I saw this thread before I won!! Stay away from this guy!

I bought a Diamond Hidashi 8000 from a Japanese seller, again, the photography made it look stellar, it arrived and from heel to toe it lost 25% of the blade, was incredible. Wrote him, said either refund or negative feedback - he said he didn't take returns. I opened a case, he said fine send it back, I sent it snail mail and about 10 days later my full refund appeared.
Went to check it out, and sure enough, it was back up for sale, same pics, same price, it sold.
You're right Shaun, like it never happened, the pic of the blade and description was at best a gross distortion of reality, rust under the covered tang, the blade was a disaster - never again from that seller, and from this thread, I'll add another to the DO NOT BUY list.

Thanked: 480One of the things that I find just as troubling, is that if you have been paying attention, a great number of the blades coming in from Japan are as we speak, being resold by the people that bought them here in the states.

Thanked: 237So how did this return process work for those who are also in that boat? Ebay refunded but you have the razor still? That seems a little sketchy.

I went to contact seller
Picked the item was defective or broken option
Put case down about the misleading photos and description as below my actual words to eBay
Comments:this item is advertised as Very Good+ condition the description & photos used are misleading & don t show the extent of damage to this blade with about 4mm of hone wear this is nearly one quarter of the blades width. This level of wear is not correctable & extends through the stabilizer into the belly of the hollow grind ruining the geometry of the razor.
Yep fully refunded here already but still waiting for correspondence from the seller, will post if I actually get any
If not returned I will have a Bismarck tape cutterSaved,
to shave another day.

Thanked: 4828I sent three emails to the seller, with no response, two of those were politely worded, one was little less than polite. The seller did not respond to any of them, the were two days apart. I then put in an across the board negative feedback, with an item not as advertised. Ebay contacted me within seconds saying not to do that without talking to the vendor. I had an link in the email from ebay to a form to respond with. I said I would love to talk about it but he has not responded to a single email. I got a second email a couple of days later telling me to call ebay. Chatted with a very nice lady for about twenty minutes. She gave me a code to check in with them in two days. Two days later I called in, said that we should give the seller an extension of five days because getting me a return shipping label would be challenging for him. The next day I got a full refund from the seller and an email from ebay that essentially said it is done and if the seller declined the return shipping label and the item was mine to keep. It seems super sketchy to me too, but that was between the seller and Ebay I suppose. Air mail from me to him is $68 US, I guess he didn't want it. Here is the part that kills me, if he had talked to me and said he was sorry nd a mistake was made and he sent me the wrong razor and he wanted to negotiate a sale for the wrong razor, I may have just accepted that and we would have been good. I got a wrong razor twice before. One time the seller just said sorry and gave me a full refund, even though the wrong razor was nicer than the one I bought, and that was without dialogue. They just sent me an email and a refund before the razor even showed up. The second time I emailed the seller, the seller said sorry for the mix up what would you like to do, I said they are similar what can you do, he made an offer and I accepted it. This seller we are talking about in this thread is beyond my comprehension with his not talking to people.

Thanked: 480Take your pick of two reasons. They are the only two that make sense, or have a high probability of being the correct ones.
1) Talking to you would mean admitting either a mistake, or dishonesty. If dishonest you never admit it. and in cultural terms, the Japanese don't often deal with such matters in the same head on fashion we do.
2) The guy simply does not speak much English, and doesn't respond because he doesn't know how. His auctions don't say very much as is, and follow a set guideline. Might have been a basic template set up for him by a grandchild or other barely English speaking individual.
Either way, bid at your peril. Cavity Emperor and all that.

Thanked: 237Yea I'm kind of in the same position. $52 US to ship my two razors back to him. I did receive a response when I initiated the return, now I'm waiting for him to pay for the return shipping. He has until next week before I can escalate the case. This situation just sucks, I might be done buying razors on ebay, at least until j see something I really want.

Thanked: 4828Well you certainly need to get picky about who you buy from. Never from this seller. There are a couple of others that hit the not really my thing list. I kind of prefer them not worked on by others, unless of course I know their work. I don't mind doing the restore i am not interested in fixing anyone else's sloppy work or being mislead.
