hahaha, well actually the seller contacted me first and was set to settle a deal but i held off to see if orville was going for it! orville- ask the seller if silverloaf backed off, he will verify that i did. wasnt mine to go after, i should have waited longer before contacting him in the first place. after reading Harrywallys comment ("Orville should have this! Don't take it on him guys. Anthony, this is one of those blades that will be the focal point of your collection. GO GET IT!!") i admit i felt a little ashamed for being such an eager beaver haha! this will be an awesome piece, enjoy it, no regrets!

Thanked: 1184Well Silver at least you man up when it counts. Don't blame ya for checking it out. Everybody knows AND Orville just learned, If you see something you might want, don't point at it until you decide. It's like throwing a pork chop in a kennel full of puppies and saying "sit boys" :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Well, I have to be honest, I did choose the picture I posted with an eye towards sheltering the source. I guess I should have avoided mentioning ANYTHING about where I sourced it. Lesson learned . . . and no more chumming of the waves.
I will be sure to post the results of tomorrow's excursion, regardless of outcome. Might even use Silver's backing off as a negotiating ploy . . . appreciate the generosity in allowing me first crack.

orville- as a sidenote- see if you can pics of the rest of the razor, im particularly interested in whether all four of those daisy collars are there. that would just be such a nice bonus! an original restore on that puppy would be such a sweet thing imo

If I buy it (hee hee hee . . . "if". RIIIIGGGHHHTT), there will be pics aplenty, and I will be looking into someone who can do a restoration justice. I have an idea of who I want to do it, but we'll see.

I can confirm that silverloaf was indeed gentlemanly in his behaviour, allowing yours truly first crack at this W&B razor. Thank you sir. I can also say that he had this weird "hand-clipper" gizmo for hair. Not my thing, but it was like a manually operated version of the electric clippers that Barber's use today. And he had a Stainless Ever-Ready Slant that I picked up for display purposes, because it was in good shape.
You will also be happy to know that he has an Uncle up in cottage country who apparently has a display case full of Straights. I have his contact info., and vice versa, so who knows . . . a small treasure trove may soon be in the offing. I will not hog the spoils though . . . fair treatment runs BOTH ways, after all. If I hear anything I will post it here for ALL to see.

Thanked: 480That is really what I love about this site. Occasional bad apple (no place is immune) aside, mostly populated by honest, and generous people. I make a habit of sending messages to people when I see something I know they might be interested in, and have been graciously been allowed first crack at items I have expressed interest in.
I know its mostly just an "internet" community, but still a community non the less.
Thank you all, for helping me believe there is still hope for humanity.

I got called into work, so pics will have to wait until tonight. posting from work, while I wait for a truck to show up.
Also, I was wondering how long it would take for a "useless without pics" post Thanks, Mike.
