I'm going to do a little reading about how to finish up on the stones. My finishing stone is an Escher, but if I then go to crox and .25 diamond, I'm wondering if I lose the "feel" of the stone? Or, should I finish on the Nani 12k, then go crox and diamond, and then do some laps on the Escher...I'd like to think that the stone should be the last thing to touch the blade? Any ideas?

yes, i saw the thread with your two, man those scales came out beautiful! i might go for this one here and just scavenge for a blade.
i always finish on the stone, have used crox on leather in the past for a handful. i liked the edge off the crox too but just unnecessary in my opinion. i hone A LOT of razors and off the stone and a stropping right after is the edge i shave with and ship out as well.

I find the crox and diamond gives a really nice even touch to the blade - could you then go back after that and use a finishing stone?

you certainly could go back to the stone but i think you would lose any benefit of having gone further to the crox and diamond. i sometimes refine the edge after honing to 12k by dropping back to 8k and then back to 12k.
im not sure if that even touch you mention from progressing past the stone would stay once you drop back to the stone or not, perhaps it would have the same effect as my edge refining by stone i never tried to drop back to the stone after crox in the past so perhaps some experimenting is in order

I'll do one dropping back to 8k then to 12k then to the Escher, and the other I'll do the same way, but add crox and diamond before hitting the Escher...see what happens - thanks!
