Is that a crack right in front of the heel?

This is another seller hoping Barnum was correct.

The hype is strong with it.

This blade has issues. The grind is off, if you look at the bellied part it is not straight at all.
I am sure some will not like my opinion but Double Ducks do enjoy hype much greater than what they offer as shavers.Name: DD issues.jpg

I think the reason is simple. Lynn declared in his video CD that one of his favorite razors was a Dubl Duck WonderEdge. It's quite likely that his statement created an extreme bump in the desirability of Dubl Ducks.

I do not know the history, I do not find them any more special than a lot of other Solingen razors. This, of course, is a YMMV as anything else shaving related.

Just shaved this morning with a DD #1 special and a fine shave it was. The shave was as good as my other razors when they are properly honed up. The blade on the DD #1 special is a bellied hollow so I assume it is the same blade as a DD Goldedge but the DD #1 special lacks the fancy scales and gold plating of the other.

My take is that the fancy grade DDs are in the hyped category of SRs and the demand is there to pay the high prices. No different from some other brands I consider to be in the hyped group.

I guess it actually was a DVD and it's for sale in the classifieds HERE.

It's been a long time since I watched it but I do recall Lynn praising the razor. I'm just speculating, but I would guess that a lot of people watching that video would be convinced that they just had to have one.

    I know I did!

I see, never watched the DVD.

Regardless, this particular razor has issues and even if it was considerably cheaper it would be something to avoid IMHO.

I have three ducks, and they are nice shavers but no better than any of the other quality vintage blades out there! I am starting to go more for the "sleeper" razors- nice shavers with no name recognition to drive up the price! With that being said, I am still going to keep my ducks
