Thread: Why Romania?

As someone with some ties to Romania I would think that any Western produced razors like English, French to some extent even German were most likely acquired pre or during WW2. After that it was pretty much Russian and Polish and yes even Chinese makers. I had my brother in law look out for such pre Iron Curtain treasures and so far hes come up dry but then again hes not like us If I were there my self Id sniff them out hehehe. Plenty of Wapiencas and Russian razors around though barbers are pretty much like here they use shavettes for their job and couldn't be bothered with all the maintenance. I have to consider another sourcing probability which may make more sense in todays world. Romanians do travel and work through out the EU and thus an enthusiast has nothing preventing him or her from acquiring razors from even the country of origin. i know that pretty much destroys my previous theory but its seemed to me more plausible that these type of razors would be found easier out of country.

Thanked: 21I think this seller from Romania buy razors in U.S, restores and then sell it again starting at a high price "to save his investment"
There are no Wade&Butcher For barber's Use in Europe, all are coming from United States.

I have no idea who the seller is, but I have noticed that there is a seller on the bay, based in Romania, who is continuously listing Morris & Forndran Brushes. I find that intriguing because these are difficult to get in the USA ...... AFAIK ......... So point is, may be the same guy.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 98Ya know, Rusen just might be able to give some insight at least to the Bulgarian side of things?
People see someone make some $$ and especially in countries of strife, others jump in with both feet and very soon after, NO ONE makes any $$.
^^ Guillaume Post #12 Tells us that all FBU come from the US. So our Romanian IS buying Here, Probably off Ebay etc. and Causing Razor prices for FBU to skyrocket.
Since I started on this hobby last year, I have seen the FBU's prices go out of sight. The Romanian is sticking it to US.
If I were wealthy, I would stop him in quick order, make it so he gets No more razors from Ebay, there are ways to ensure that.
Some of you wheeler dealers are sticking it to the old guys like me, BY SELLING TO THE GUY, I see he has hit up some here for FBU's DON"T SELL TO HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Last edited by FAL; 07-23-2016 at 06:24 AM.
