Thanked: 3224This item has a reasonable shipping cost to Canada Vintage Straight Razor Frederick Reynolds Nice 5 8†w Case Faux Tortoise | eBay . It has been a while but I seem to recall getting a tracking number with these USPS services.
I'll take care of duties owing, if any, myself when the item is delivered and skip paying for all the extra nonsense the brokers tag on to the overall cost. This is from a buyers POV.

Thanked: 4826There is a difference between taxes and duties and brokerage fees. Like USPS Global ship charges a substantial fee on top of the taxes and duties for filling out the customer declarations and prepaying any taxes or duties. The brokerage fee is a very high percentage. UPS is much higher at around 60%, Global Ships around 30%. So on a $99 dollar item there are no duty or taxes due, so it is shipping plus 33%. First class mail from the US to Canada does have tracking but no insurance. Postage with insurance from Canada to the US us silly at around $20 for a small package and around $70 to Australia or New Zealand.

Thanked: 1I agree with everyone here. GSP is a great rip off. Bought a vintage SR, GSP charges $15 for so called priority shipping. On top of it, charges another $5 for custom tax in Malaysia. Our customs don't tax for purchases below & 1000. When I wanted to clarify why they charging customs duties, they just avoided that topic and just gave me a bunch of standard copy&paste reply into how great they are as in they fill up paperwork etc. Rip off. Worse of all, the package arrived much 2 weeks later compared to the other purchase I had with standard USPS.. AVOID AT ALL COST

You just need some prospective. GSP is great if you're sending an expensive item and you are the shipper. It's really not for typical items though.

Thanked: 2Shipping international is insane. I remember when I lived in Minas (BH) shipping stuff to and from the states was a nightmare. And expensive. My parents sent me a package in a medium sized usps flat rate box and it was like 60 bucks. And someone at the correios got some of my gold fish... :/

That beautiful nightmare won. I bought it, but it was sent to Lynn for honing and cleaning ($4,00 shipping). Cleaned, honed and shipped to me by Lynn it still will be cheaper than ebay's lowliving bloodsucker global shi**ing program.

Between that and the new final value fees charged to the seller (10%), eBay is just not the tool that it used to be. I'm out!

With all the moaning and complaining Eboy is still in business and isn't going anywhere.
Just think, if they shut down today would it have an impact on most folks?

I think we'll just migrate to another auction site if they shut down. They are, by far, the most popular initiative, but not the only.
I still think they are a good site, but they still shoot their own foot sometimes, as most dynamic enterprises.
