That's a decent deal, for a Friodur. Personally, I find Henckels among the least interesting razors around as they were truly mass-produced (like Pumas). For illustration: Ebay consistently brings up around 150 hits for the search terms "Friodur razor". So to me, in the end this is just a (probably) well-made 6/8 stainless steel razor that is not very hard to find, no more no less.

Thanked: 4827HAHAHA You are missing the subtleties of that blade. You are correct that it is unlikely to ever be an over the top priced razor. Henckels was or is the longest running, largest volume producer of straight razors. There are more Henckels out there than almost every other brand. They shave as well as any of the big names. The point of the OP is that this particular Henckels is not an easy find, and it went for less than many of the very common Henckels.

Thanked: 4827One of the things I really like about Henckels razors is they don't usually go for crazy amounts of money.

I have noticed that the 14's from Japan command high prices.
I suppose all the old carbon, notched ones from elsewhere long ago are all gone.
Have not shaved with either, but I do have an old 14 to fix-up someday.
The old prewar Henckels are my favorites, but my newer ones shave nice, some better than others. (Beard type thing!)

Thanked: 480I have a sweet Wotan I need to bust out and put back in the line. I keep trying to grab a Torpedo, but my efforts keep getting.... torpedoed!
Multiple reasons... Not so many 14s compared to 17s. Just before the Friodur 14s started showing up from Japan, there was a whole lot of people talking about the superb shaving Henckels 14. (carbon steel) and the silly people all had to grab a 14 and get in on it. Not to mention anything with a 14 gets attention, simply because. Dobl Tempel anyone?

Thanked: 4827I'm pretty sure that all the Henckels that were being sold were selling for a bit more than they do now, since the floodgates from Japan opened. The 14's and 17's in carbon steel are really not that easy to find in nice condition at less than ransom prices. I agree that anything makes 14 is more likely to sell for more than anything without, not matter who made it, and I too blame that on the popularity of the Dobl Temple.
