    Default Snooze and loose.

    So, I missed this.

I even set a reminder for myself. But business called me away, and by the time I returned, it was too late.

one bid. ONE. Look close boys and girls, its a decorated blade 17 1/2 I see lots of 17s and 17 1/2 but this is the first one with the decoration.

Oh well. I hope it was one of you guys!

Ouch. I don't mind missing auctions when after the fact i see they went past my cap anyway, however when the items go that far below your cap, it sort of brings a tear to your eye. Yes that is a very unusual Henckels 17 1/2. I have seen 11V's and 72V's with that decoration but not 17's. I am going trough a no buy period and honestly have not done much looking. I am sorry you hadn't put a low bid in as an opener, but that often just jacks up the sale price.

Yupper, you do hate to loose on something like that. Someone is a happy camper.

I hate it when that happens.

One day. Remember, there is ALWAYS another razor out there. Will it be that cheap? probably not!

There will always be other razors for sure. Likely that one would not have been that cheap had you been bidding against it either. We have no idea what the other persons cap may have been. When they go that cheap I like to think, some days are my turn, others, not so much.

I always say the razor isn't worth the price the highest bidder paid, it's worth a penny over what the second highest bidder bid. So like Rez dog said the guy who won could have been willing to bid thousands, but he only had to beat the second bidder. In this case much easier with no other bidder.

My new approach is to limit my bid to $30 including shipping. I also refuse to bid on razors with what is clearly high shipping built in.
There are deals out there. I have a Carbo Magnetic and a Italian C. Di Ricco& Figli. I had to go a little over my limit. But I have rarely seen Italian razors. And I like the idea of having examples from a lot of countries.

Most of the time I just put my max bid out whenever I see a blade I want regardless of the time left. That way, I don't miss out on at least having a shot and it also prevents me from getting in a bidding war!

As RezDog mentioned, sometimes putting bids on a razor causes a jump in bidding. Worst case scenario, it bumps the item up into the "featured item" section, and then EVERYBODY sees it!
THATS why I dont normally put my max bid in early (if at all)
