Also the seller in question has sold at least 2 that I've seen an iirc several others that were unmarked I believe he restores them an the etch comes of I of course don't know for sure but I know that he sells a lot of razors an seems to have quite the supply of iwasakis that do have their markings still. So it is a possibility that he has quite a few that rubbed off I do know that I've watched both that he sold recently an lost bidding on the first an forgot to bid on the second because it ended at like 1 or 2 am. Just my two cents though.
thanks i had no attention to compare other blades solds with mine.

Just my two bits but I find it very hard, if not impossible, for genuine Iwasaki razors for sell, but unmarked.

That is a giant leap of faith that I would not muster.

The one thing for me that casts a doubt over the autheticity of these razors is the double stabilizers? I have never seen a western style Iwasaki razor with a double stabilzer or a etched stamp.

Excellent point, just had a look at my two and you are correct.

And agreed Bob, " very hard, if not impossible, for genuine Iwasaki razors for sale (sic), but unmarked"....

To me whenever I see one with a etch blade and double stabilzers there is something that says to me no.

I have early Torrey's heavily-stamped and later same lightly etched and barely discernible.

Long-running outfits always seem to end production with this.
Sheffield, American, Swedish, German, French, even Japanese!

    Nothing new?

Everyone may tend to think old Iwasaki sat, spent his lifetime and made razors for you to collect now.

Would not be farther from the truth. Was quite complicated.
He was a genius, but did he make many razor? This article seems quite informative.
His was a very traditional operation, it seems.
Like all old makers, things were done to compete.
    Esp at the end..

I will try to get better pictures of the etched tang on mine and post them.
I tend to think that no one in Japan would dare counterfeit an Iwasaki razor back in the 50's-60's. Yet the name was good towards the end. JMHO

Some of the Swedish steel ones have the double stabiliser.

Curious, Why not? Certainly not as old and of special steel as some.
Still, Late production and Swedish steel. Made to compete with contemporary style and etchings.
One could prove that they are.....or not?

Tom they just don't look right to me and when you consider that Iwasaki forged all their own razors and have all their own tang stamps why would they want to etch them? out of all the Iwasaki razors you can view online those two look completely different to all others.
