Money orders.and checks still work. If someone has to wait a few days for them to clear the bank is nothing compared to being hacked. I bet most of us would understand.
I too was hacked a few weeks back. Wondering if it was the same group as it was from back east and kids toys were bought. Dolls. Only 30 bucks the first time and 50 bucks the second time. I think they were feeling me out with small amounts at first. Im just happy my wife does our check book and bank accounts the old fasion way. Paper and pen. If it dont balance or something dont look right weekly she comes to me to see what i forgot to write in the check book.
I had to cancel my card and get a new one and the bank refunded our moneys. Its a shame the steps we have to go thru to deal with money now days. Ill do cash when i can. It's just Sharpening, right?

I believe this is what was happening with us Jerry, in the beginning it was $20 here or there and my wife never said anything because it came from my pay pal. Then when there was over $1k missing I got my but chewed because she thought I was buying all kinds of stuff. I never spend over $100 without saying hey, I will be spending what ever the amount and getting that cleared with her It is certainly a shame that we can not just have our money and others have theirs. It really chaps me that I work for mine and others just sit back and do nothing. But that is a discussion for another day.

To show how times have changed:
I have a canceled check that my grandfather wrote to Safeway back in 1927. (Safeway was the company that I worked for and retired from after close to 37 years).
It's a 'Counter Check' Filled Out in Pencil.
I have dozens of other checks all counter checks and all filled out in pencil. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

With PayPal you can turn on some very strict security protection. If you log into your account, go to the little gear (setting) then across the top of the next window pick security. You can turn on a 2 factor authentication process by selecting the Security Key option. If you enable this, then after you successfully log in with a username and password, they will text your cell phone a 6 digit security code. You then have to enter that code as well to gain access to your account. So if you do this and then suddenly start getting text messages with codes and you aren't generating them -- hey someone is trying to get into you paypal account.
Random passwords are not as secure as a 'pass phrase'. Truly random is a fallacy in computer science. Pick something that makes sense to you like "These 21 dogs love to dance!" spaces included if the system will allow it. Research shows that passphrases are easier to remember, so you will pick ones that are harder to crack, are harder for cracking software to hack, and are ultimately more secure. I teach computer forensics - and although the debate rages on, the real research into the topic is pretty clear.
