I am in the same camp as dinnermint, I look at an item and figure what I am willing to pay after that it is up to the other nerds looking for razors I have only been in a bidding war a couple times and looking back how silly was that. Plus my wife got upset that I would sit and watch and item I was going to bid on until it was over so bid and leave it, hope for the best.

I have not been on ebay for a few years, but when I was, I learned why sniping was the way to go…

I bid on a textbook and was the high bidder at about $15. Over the course of the next couple of days a guy kept bumping up his bids over and over in $1 increments. My maximum bid was about $60. I ended up winning the auction at about $50. If I had entered a snipe bid of $60, I would have paid $15 because the guy would not have been able to bid over and over. Lesson learned. That neurology textbook saved me a lot of money on razor bidding.

Sniping allows you to enter your maximum bid once and walk away and forget about it. It prevents you from trying to "win" or "beat" another bidder.

And you don't miss bidding on an item because the ending time was while you were asleep or away from your computer.

I will put a "marker" bid as well. It will then remind me when the time is almost up. There's a difference for me between items on my watch list and items on my bid list. Kinda like "nice to have" VS "must have"...

That is exactly why I snipe as well.

If I see an item I like I enter my max bid into Gixen auction sniper and forget about it.

Another way to lose an auction, like several rare, gorgeous Georgian and other beautiful razors the like of which has not been seen in quite awhile on eBay, is to not wake up, and sleep through the end of the auction.

Nothing like rushing down, opening email and eBay, and seeing around 10 notices of, "Item Got Away"....

Some really spectacular razors have been had a couple of hours ago, can't wait to see them start to pop up....
