The owner of the shop where I used to buy whisky a long time ago told me of a couple who bought the rarest and most sought after whiskies. They collected it.
They didn't open any of the bottles, and they didn't even like whisky at all.

Sometimes they paid thousands of euros for 1 bottle.
If I paid that much for a bottle it'd be empty before I died, that's for sure.

I thought this was a little high as well although they have really jumped up in price over the last two years. Many times as in the case here, you have new guys in a bidding war. When Puma's were last for sale in stores, they went for between $150 and $200 retail. At the end of the day, they are super shavers.

    Have fun.

I was just watching Dirty Rotten Scoundrels last night on TV. Michael Caine's stuckup Limey character was trying to educate Steve Martin's brash US character (who majored in Metal Workshop) about his wine collection:

SM: So you buy expensive wines. They must taste great!
MC: Oh no, they're far too precious to drink!
SM: O...K... so you must make a lot of money out of them?
MC: Oh no, I couldn't sell them... they're too dear to me.

Price is not inconsistent with unopened Pumas in the past year. There have not been that many in this state, really. Yes, I have seen higher (but must admit they didn't seem to have any visible issues)

I am not a collector - I am a user. I would not dream of paying as much for it - not in this condition. And even if I get one pristine, I would devalue it immediately by opening and using

    Cheers

Yes but just think how excited you would be to open up that wrapper to that pristine never used blade. Why your hand would be shaking so much you couldn't shave with it!
