Yes, I won three. See the pics...nothing super special, but nice. I will send them off for some cleaning, honing, Dremel-love. As a side note, all the auctions I have ever been to have a buyer's premium (and a seller's premium as well)...auctioneers are like stockbrokers or bookies - win or lose, they get paid....that's how they make their money.
I won a basic Solingen blade with MOP (or MOP looking) inlay in the scales. a nice 19th Cen. Wedge from Sheffield, and a Hibbard Spencer Bartlett with a covered tang (I like those too...one of my TIs has that).

Yes I got sucked in. I usually stay clear of auctions due to the Buyer's Premium. Oh and I also missed the whole shipping issue. My bad for not reading the fine print. (They did mention in their listings that they would ship Priority Mail for each item at a cost of $5.00 and would combine shipping. However, I got the invoice saying they don't do shipping. ) Anyway, I spent most of the day checking out the auction and I'll make a few points. 1) I think the auction primarily focused on scales and to a lesser degree blades. 2) Not being a "floor bidder" makes it difficult because at times I thought I had won an item due to my higher bid. Well, it seems the items would close and someone with a lower bid had won. On the other hand I was beat by a floor bidder by $5 to then be notified I won. 3) Finally, I got what I thought were some good deals. Even with the 13% charge. Spent $163.85 ($145 + 13%) = $60 + $10 + $25 + $25 + $10 + $15. Unfortunately would have spent about $60 twice more but got beat out for some fat blades. Anyone want to give me an opinion? I probably can't post pics from the auctioneer's but I guess I could list the items auction numbers or links to ebay?
John
Hmmm maybe I can post them? lol
Oh btw a mint red imp went for $20. Thought I won that one.Last edited by mrcleanhead; 09-30-2007 at 11:10 PM. Reason: WireBeard's post

Thanked: 0I got a couple of razors for 15.00. I'm just getting into straights, so anything new is great and I thing these look ok. I guess I'll call them tomorrow about the $5 shipping. I saw it in the posting too. I think they'd have to do it if it's in the ebay posting.

I think I won that one, assuming this is it:
Actually, I won several lots. I put in what I thought were low-ball bids on a bunch of razors and razor lots and won a few. I ended up with 22(!) razors, for a total, including buyer's premium, of $209. Here's most of what I won:
Lot of five razors, including a (made in Spain) C-Mon Filarmonica for $30:
Lot of three razors, including a (to my tastes) snazzy Genco Easy Aces with blued tang for $35:
This lot for $10:
This lot for $40:
And finally, this lot for $20:
I'm particularly happy about the Craftsmans, C-Mon blackie, the C-Mon Filly, and the Red Imp!
I just missed getting a lot that included a pretty posh, apparently NOS Goldedge for $60. Also, WireBeard beat me on that very nice Hibbard, Spencer, and Bartlett, which I would have liked.
I called the auction house and Cindy told me they'd ship up to five razors for $5, and would charge actual shipping costs (via UPS) for any number of razors over that, which is pretty much what the listing said in the first place.Last edited by SteveS; 10-01-2007 at 06:17 PM.
