Thread: Second chance offer..bad picture

I just got a second chance offer for this Wade & Butcher. $12+5 for shipping.
Now is that chips on the middle of the blade or just a bad picture??

Ask the seller. That way you're covered.

Actually, I think the photo provides an optical delusion due to the background lines.
Still, always better to ask the seller.

It could be that the seller is trying to hide the chips , using the background as camoflage . Seeing as , you haven't received any replies to your e-mails , it doesn't look good . I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole . Oops I just re-read your post and I see you bought it . Hopefully I'll be wrong about the seller , I wish you the best .

I got an answer a few minutes ago. He says it's not chipped. He says it's really sharp and to be careful..lol

I got it, I think it was well worth the $17. I don't know how to get the stains off of it though. I was surprised at the good edge. I looked at it with through a jeweler's loupe and the edge looked good. I stropped it and shaved with it tonight. Someone had kept it shave ready ANY suggestions on getting the stains out of the blade would be very welcome..

just use maas

Is Maas better than Flitz? I've gone over it with Flitz 4 times and then 3 more with a buffer/dremel. The stains are much better, but still there. I'm very hesitant about using sandpaper with etching.

have you tried jewelers rouge on a felt pad with the dremel?
the flitz and maas seem to work about the same if the blade is already silky smooth (no pitting) you could safely use sandpaper 1k and up without much damage to the etching... etchings really only get ruined when you have to do a lot of sanding.
