    Default Lucky or unlucky?

Fellas, I just won this auction for a "Vintage Belgian Kone." Privately, the seller wrote that the dark-color side is "Deep purple" and the dimensions are 6 7/8 by 2 5/16 by 15/16 thick. Do you think I won a big, vintage coticule? If not, what did I win?

The pictures below are from the auction.

Mind you, I know almost nothing about hones. But if its a natural stone, and mined in Belgium, is it not most likely that its of the same material as a coticule? And if thats the case then, semantics aside, it must be a coticule. At least I've only heard of the natural hone stones from Belgium as being the ones from Ardenne quarries.

Anyhoo, you sure its not an H and not a K on the word "kone"? would make a bit more sense probably just the font which looks like a K instead of an H.

Kone means wife in Danish btw.

I'm pretty sure it is an H. I wrote it with a K because the seller listed it that way.

I have several exactly like that. It is a Belgian, coticule on one side ( light colored) 8-10k grit, and is also a natural stone on the other, dark, side, approx 4K grit.

    Nice catch!

Who'd have thought of searching for a 'kone'. Well found Steve! Had it been listed as hone it would have prob made a $100 more?

    "Kone" in Norway = wife

So I can see why someone would be searching for a 'kone', but on ebay

Thanks, gents. I figured it was likely a slate-backed yellow coticule, but if has a blue side, too, I'm really happy with this find!
