Thread: Disappointed

well, as lee said it's pretty clear what happened - tommy put the wrong picture. that mappin&webb in the picture was listed few days earlier and sold for a bit more.
it seems that at this point the seller offered the best he could do to rectify the situation - a full refund.
of course you don't get the great deal that you were hoping you would get, but you could've asked the seller before the auction ended about more details. quite likely he'd have realized that the picture was wrong and put the correct picture. or if it was indeed a mappin&webb flying under the radar it might have attracted attention and hiked up the price.
so the way i see it - you were hoping that taking the risk would end up in your favor, but this time it didn't. the seller is offering full refund, so that's all more than fair.
that's just the way gambling works - you don't get to win all the time
there have been few mappin&webb razors in the last few months with good descriptions, pictures and clear identifications - none of them was sold for $15.

Which is why I titled the thread "disappointed" rather than "cheated"
I'll admit I didn't want to ask him about it and have him update his description to include "mappin & webb". silly me
full refund is fair indeed, this thread is simply meant to voice my disappointment and give substance to my whining - thanks for the feedback, srp!Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

Personally I think the onus is on the seller to make sure his picture matches his product - worth a thousand words after all. He should offer full refund plus cost of shipping, or the razor pictured.

Nobody bought the kakaime for the $27 I asked (surprise surprise) so I sent it back to tommy sometime in July. He did refund me the $25 so I was only out international shipping - it is a learning experience.
Sorry I forgot about updating this thread!
Tommy is classy enough to correct errors, he seems to be an ok guy to meFind me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

Thanks for the update. Yes Tommy has always been willing to make good on his errors whenever they happen. I've returned few razors and always had to pay the return shipping. Sometimes sellers don't refund the shipping costs and when they are low I just live with it, and never buy from the seller again, but few times I've filed chargebacks with paypal.
Everybody makes mistakes, whether I'll do business with them in the future depends on how they handle these. So far I've been happy with Tommy.

See, this is where I differ in opinion- He OWES you that shipping cost. It was obviously his mistake. I would have requested your shipping costs back and awaited his reply. If he wouldn't grant them I would have filed a dispute. It isn't about the money but the matter of principal and how certain situations are best dealt with. Otherwise he may never get the point that you are out money for his mistake while he is likely to profit on that razor again. Glad you are happy with the end result though!

Thanked: 174Totally agree, but even stronger. You should not pay for the sellers mistake, The seller is in my opinion dishonest.
He took your money under false pretenses and then cheated you out of postage.
Incidentally, the blade looks pitted and worthless to me. I wouldn't give you anything for a blade with pitting so deep and so near to the blade. That blade, IMHO is good for the dustbin.
Look I'm an honest guy. If I make a mistake, I will offer a full refund. No questions asked. That is the way to build a reputation as a reputable trader. I know most of the guys on this forum deal in the same way. They have integrity and pride in the articles or services they offer.
I am also aware that on E bay, dealers with integrity are as rare as rocking horse s***.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience.
