Thread: Craftsman straight razor?

I do believe there were some quality Craftsman razors. I've seen a bunch made by ERN, and there's the one my Imperial in the classifieds. They do seem to typically sell in the upper-mid price range. But those Ebay stores... they seem to want too much for everything. I guess that's just the way it is with stores in general (for the most part).

Here is one that recently finished on ebay. I have a half dozen of them. One by Ern and the rest by Koeller I think. All are of a high quality and are as good a shaver as you can get. I have paid $150.00 for a mint NOS piece. Lesser condition will bring a lower price of course.
The seller who is asking $275 is an antique guy who puts a high value on items from the Art Deco period. Note that he includes Art Deco in describing the razors that he places a high price on. He knows very little about razors or wet shaving. His estimate of value is based on the scales. The fancier the higher the price.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 4942Howdy,
$150 for the ebay one if NOS would be an OK price in my opinion. That one is a Koeller (Sta-Sharp Model) and in my opinion again, one of the very best shavers out there. I saw one go for $200 once from a razor collector, but the $150 has been the average for Mint. The one in the Classified's looks like an ERN which also is an excellent shaver.
Good luck.

The Sta-Sharps (not marked Craftsman) tend to go for less on ebay, and shave just as good. Maybe even slighly better if you get the Chromized Steel version.

Thanked: 77I think the Craftsman branding/etching was a large part of what intrigued me. As well as the scales and overall look of the razor
. I was just really drawn to that one. I actually offered the $150 that Lynn suggested (and that's over my budget). I guess I'm sort of relieved that offer also got rejected. I really should be saving up for the stones on my list first...
