It was won by a member who knows what he's doing.
Puma Gold are very desirable razors, so in great condition they go for quite a bit.
On this particular razor the top two bidders were willing to spend 500 for it, the one under them only slightly above 100.
Note that a razor is worth different amounts to different people. And as with any scarce things it's the balance between supply and demand that determines the 'worth'.

And as a real-estate agent once said to me when we were house-hunting, "What's a house worth? Whatever someone ends up paying for it."

Thanked: 4As both a real estate agent and the guy who who won this particular auction, I agree completely
I've been looking for a 6/8 Puma Gold for a long time. Like Bigbubba said, I set a ridiculously high "gotta have it" snipe, though I never expected it would go that high. Still definitely worth it to me...my 5/8 Puma Gold is among my best shavers, and far and away better than any other 5/8 I've got (I tend to get MUCH better shaves out of 6/8 or larger razors).
As far as the scales, I think they may be original despite the lack of the Puma inlay. The seller is a Puma Knife collector, and he told me he's pretty sure they are original. The pivot pin certainly looks original. I also happen to have a set of black 3-pin Puma scales (from a 6/8 razor), with inlay, in excellent condition...I'm not sure yet, but I may put this blade in those scales.
As far as getting my money back out of it...I don't intend to try
Kahunamoose - don't worry, this was an unusally desireable Puma. Several NOS/minty Pumas have sold recently for between $100 and $200, sometimes less. I got a near mint 5/8 Puma Special for $35 + shipping about 6 months ago, buy it now. Keep your eyes open and you'll get one
