Bid high then buddy. I've got a couple of vintage Thuringians. Haven't dated them, but they're old, so they are out there, & a 5" x 1" stone can be had for very little at the moment.
I've got the exact same as this.
Vintage Thuringian Barbers Water Razor Hone Germany-C18 on eBay, also, Barber Shop Shaving, Vanity Perfume Grooming, Collectables (end time 01-Feb-09 21:30:00 GMT)
It's the third i've seen identical & that's with me rarely looking.
It's a great little stone. It's not mine by the way.

Well, they might be common on your side of the Atlantic, but not in the U.S. version of ebay. At least, not that I've seen.

I don't dredge through the sharpening stone section but once a week on average though.

Well, if that one finishes after the Escher & you happen to be unlucky, maybe it could be your consolation till you get the expensive brand named one?
You'd offload it in the classifieds no problem. I paid £20 for mine & $20 for the one i got from Kees. The £ was strong then too, so that was pittance!
