I also work in archaeology, and on a private archaeology list a pretty attractive female archaeologist posted a picture of her holding two ancient, incredibly rare and lovely pieces of pottery

It was about 12 posts later that anyone even pondered that the expression "nice pair of jugs" could apply to anything other than the pottery!

There are other realms of geek-dom where irony is only detected much later!
