Pike's BBW/Coticule
There's a Pike's natural combi going & i'm posting to stop myself bidding.
I hope doesn't bugger it up for anyone patiently waiting to snipe it!

Great find, Ben, thanks! The yellow side does look a bit thin, but I'm bidding on this as a decor piece anyway.

The yellow is a bit thin, but that yellow side would still easily last virtually any razor user a lifetime. No joke. I just got a 5" bonded vintage Coticule/Belgian Blue (back when they were using BBW instead of slate 50+ years ago) that has the yellow about as thin as in this current auction. Beautiful stone. I have not used it yet and therefore have not decided if I'm going to keep it or sell it. My point is, I know that the yellow side on the stone I describe is thin, but I would never personally work through it in my lifetime.

it is not a natural but bonded hone. i used to have one of them.
nobody who has honed a lot of razors on a coticule would be concerned about how 'thin' it is.

I nailed a pair of these in a 'buy it now' on the bay about a month or two ago. Pike was a competitor of Norton and eventually Norton bought them out. I think I read that it was either before WWII or shortly thereafter.
These stones are pretty cool both with the blue side glued to the yellow. The smaller of the two is marked 1/2 Fine Grade and the larger Extra Choice Selected Grade. Which is ahead in the Pike pecking order is unknown to me. I haven't used them enough to come to a conclusion on which is better, just enough to know that they are both good.
The smaller of the two has a slightly pinkish hue to the yellow and is 5" long with a heavy 5mm thickness of material for both the blue and the yellow. The larger of the two is very interesting to me as it has a greenish hue to the yellow. It is 7" long with 6mm of yellow and 10mm of blue.
If you are a hone freak or just need a coticule Pike seems to have had some good stuff.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Ah, sorry. Made the assumption it was a natural due to the uneven line between the two stones.
