    I knew a guy who claimed that he made knives from files. He told me that he annealed them by covering them with lime and then ground and heat treated them. Randydance has made a couple of razors from files recently as well as from tool steel. Here is a post and the first pic shows one made from a file.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Forging knife blades from files is quite common. Decent steel for knifemaking.

    I did the same thing, it was absolutey crude and somewhat laughable, but it worked, until my dumbass cousin got it stuck into a stump and broke it trying to get it out.

    Same here. We also made some crooked knives for carving wood.

    I just purchased a pair of old razors from ebay, a Wade and Butcher and a Grand 20. Anyway, the seller refered to the barbers notch as 'a little chip on the front of the blade edge'
    At least I hope thats what he was refering to.
