I used to have a tendency to bid on stuff without carefully studying the photos or asking questions. A friend pointed out obvious hone wear on a razor I was bidding on and I started being more careful. That and receiving blades with chips, and cracks or cracks in the scales at the pivot made me more circumspect. The subject of this thread is more obvious though.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Wow! Just out of curiosity I sent him a message asking if he has any close-up pics of the broken part.

I did send the seller a question last night and he got back to me saying there is definitely a chip at the top of the razor. He overlooked it when photographing and will revise the listing description.
He did apologize for the error and he just changed the description too to reflect the broken chip.

I just got a Helje MK31 from ebay, that was listed to have a "small chip". When I received the razor it actually has a tear in the blade above the chip. It's a lovely razor with Ivory scales. It's heartbreaking that the blade is unusable. I'm hoping for a partial refund since I feel that it still would have been usable if I could hone out the chip. I couldn't hone out the tear without removing 1/2 the blade.

Some of these people haven't got a clue when it comes to straights. They probably can't imagine that anyone would want to use one to shave with. I recall a women who listed a razor with similar damage to the tip of the blade. In the description she said that she wasn't sure but thought that it might have been made that way.
In some cases it can truly be said,"Forgive them for they know not what they do".Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
