I almost bid on it too, but after studying the poor photos for a spell, decided the odds were against it being a coticule. But, like a 50 to 1 odds horse winning a race, it happens. So good luck and please post pics after you get it cleaned up!

Could be. It has a hint of correct colouring & the extent of dishing suggests it may be a natural. For that money it's worth taking the chance. When you're lapping it you should save the slurry. It'll keep you & your descendants going for generations!

What an interesting stone. If it could talk I bet it would have some tales to tell. Whoever NB was he got his money's worth.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I was gonna check a corner or pop it out of the box first to see what it was.
If it is junk I will resell it as "vintage sharpening stone hone etc".

If it is coticule then I will saw the extra off to make slurry stones instead of lapping it flat from the word go.

Man that would be one hell of a big coticule for $16 !!

N.B. sure did get his moneys worth !!!

Actually I will save the slurry and after it dries I'll add oil to make polish for the dremel.
