Thanked: 13249You know whats funny is even just last year I would have been way ****ed about losing two auctions in one day that I actually wanted the razors for my personal collection... But I have finally learned that there is not one thing I have seen on ebay that I have not seen again

I need to look in this area of the forum more often! I honestly thought my $27 bis on this might be enough! It sounds like there's a good story about this razor to be had from the initial posts.
holli4pirating I see from your quote you may sell some SRs? Do most members try to sell them here first or go straight to the bay? I'll buy there but it seems like a better chance of actually getting what is advertised here rather than on the bay.

if you had tried to place that bid manually at the last moment, ebay would have told you that you need to place a higher bid in order to meet the bid increment requirements
but hey, at least you did not pay more than you were willing, which to me is worse than losing an auction!Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

Speaking of losing a bid - it seems when someone posts a razor I like here, it shows up as sold by the time I get to looking at it. Does anyone know how to rig something so you can get an alert (iPhone, Blackberry. email, or SMS) when someone posts a razor for sale here in the SRP Classifieds? I miss some by minutes and get so damned frustrated that I go and buy 3 or 4 on the bay... when I could have gotten one really nice one here from a real SR brother!

Thanked: 20Example:
Bid increment is $1.50
I snipe for $188.38 at 6 seconds and get the high bid
Lowest valid bid now is $188.38 + $1.50 = $189.88
You snipe for $188.88 at 5 seconds
Your snipe does not meet the minimum valid bid of $189.88
No more bids in the 4 seconds remaining
I win for $188.38

You all have to realize there is really nothing special about any DD aside from the Wonderedge with its cryo treated steel. Yes they are great shavers but so are many other brands. The reason certain models cost what they do is because people are willing to pay that much for them. Remove the demand and most are quite reasonable. Many of the older Bresnick models are unknown and though rare go for a song. Many of these razors never even mention DD so they go under the radar. Its the same reason a Rolex watch can fetch the price it does. People are willing to pay for it and the manufacturer exploits the brand name to the max.
The Vesuvious really just predates the Lifetime grim reaper. Who knows maybe they were going to sell a whole grim reaper series but it never happened. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
