The guy that bought it posted it in Razors, he's sending to to Max. That's a high price for a fixer upper...

There are two of this exact model every week in the ebay. Saturday (2 days ago): one sold at $275 (broken scales). Sunday (yesterday): $235 (broken scales). It is impossible to say that those blades are rare; they could be less common than people who want them, but not rare.
In my opinion a rare razor is something like this (2nd one in the post). That's why I payed 150$ for it (the most expensive razor I ever bought ). How many of this have you seen? Not only the scales, but the blade as well can be considered a difficult find.
My first vintage razor was a W&B 8/8 "for barber's use" (#1 in my gallery). I bought it 5 months ago and payed 105$ for it. I thought it was an unique find but now I know that I could find a new "barber's use" every week. EDIT: here the next one.
OK, I am slightly off topic, but I feel it's important to define what is rare and what is highly requested.Last edited by clavichord; 05-18-2009 at 09:52 AM. Reason: Link edded.

Thanked: 171Clavichord, you're absolutely right, I shouldn't have used the word rare. I tried to tone it down with the "pretty" as in "pretty rare" but still, it's the wrong word. I meant more to say that there is wayy more demand than supply for these razors.

Yep! Guilty!
Wow ... it seems some feathers got ruffled with this auction!
I am the Guilty party ... I don't worry about the price too much ... I AM happy this went for alot less than the other 2 choppers I was going for.
As for the scales .... I have some unique plans in mind for them .... I think it can be an OUTSTANDING razor when done with what I have planned!
I didn't know I was stepping on any toes going after this one ... if I did please accept my apology.
This WAS an auction where the highest bid wins... I have lost LOTS of these, so I will be happy with the one I got. (At a much lower price than the other 2 I went after)
I do think she will clean up fine and be a show stopper when she is unveiled in her new state.
Just wait and see!!!
Respectfully,
Steve

You got it, Ichinichi. I'll get the old lightbox out in the next few days and take a group shot.
I'll let you know when I do.
