Default Finally! Got my Filly (I think)

I finally got what I think is a reasonable deal on a Filarmonica. True it doesn't have any markings on the blade other than 14. It does have a Filly handle and it's being sold by a guy who has had access to a lot of them in the past. I am thinking this was a lunch pail special.

Doggone it! if it takes an edge and shaves great, I will put it in my rotation and call it a Fillarmonica!

    And it wasn't $200!

Has that blade been shortened? Nice buy & a great price if it is a Filly!

Seller said it was 2.5" long and 7/8" wide. I am planning on only using 2" of it anyhow

I think the pic wasn't taken straight on.

I bought a Fillie from that same seller,mariona08,same unmarked blade but with silver scales and the blade was shortened. Same shot in the photos too. Blade should be about 3 1/16 inches to the end of the grind. What I did was make new scales that fit the blade and it does shave like a fillie nonetheless.

    possibly a factory second.

Of course the only thing that says it's a Filly is the scales. Maybe I could shorten them.

I quite like the look of a short blade. They make the width look huge!

It arrived a little chopped as expected.

What wasn't expected was a crack that runs pretty much the length of the spine. This is probably the injury that caused it to be chopped in the first place. I can use it. It honed up nice. I just can't sell it. It may break eventually but, as of now, it doesn't affect shaving with it.

I can't prove it wasn't injured in shipping, but I have to believe the crack and the shortened blade are linked.

    Shaves nice though.

I probably should send off a message to the seller, just to see how he handles it.

The length of the spine? Do you mean the crack runs parallel to the spine?

for most of the way, it is lengthwise on the spine then goes down into the blade parallel to it.

I am a bit worried about the tang: all Fillies I know have Filarmonica stamped on the tang.
