    That's too bad, but I'm sure you'll be able to find someone who will want it as a display piece. It's certainly worth putting up in the classifieds here and maybe someone will bite despite the crack. It's certainly worth a shot!

    What about giving the blade to a bladesmith, is there any reason why he/she couldn't melt it and forge it into a new blade?

    hypothetically i could. that's a lot of steel though, and a chance the crack could spread, right?

    Never done it before so I don't know but plenty here have done just that, also it would be quite the save if it worked out and if it doesn't you will have lost nothing and maybe gained a little experience and confidence in modifying other blades to your liking.

    Mark, you would have to cut the poor thing in half, and then buff out the etching so that it would not look as pathetic. The only thing I know to do (off the top of my head) is to grind the blade down along the entire length of the blade. You would still have to lose all of the artwork because then it would be poorly centered.

    Yeah, so? If one is interested in learning it would be a good way to go about it. Besides which, shouldn't you be working now instead of replying to SRP threads?
