    Angry Paypal hacked!

A word of caution - be aware of creating strong passwords for all your online activity, and change them periodically. Some ****ing son of a ***** has gotten into my Paypal account and given himself a payment of $785.00 (that I don't have) for something I don't want and didn't buy.
I've disputed it with Paypal and am waiting to see what happens. A few years ago someone got into my eBay account and started trying to sell things under my ID but I caught that in time. I'm starting to get a little uncomfortable with eBay/Paypal security - I'm an IT analyst, so it's not like I use crappy passwords.

    Damn that sucks!

Is there any way you can contact the seller and explain what happened? He probably won't believe you, but I suppose there's a chance. You can let him know that you're following it up with paypal so one way or another he's not going to get the money (hopefully).

    Good luck either way.

The seller is probably the one who did it.
Its just about impossible to get a hold of him in hong kong.

Have you checked your computer for trojans?

I tend to use visa gift cards when I do this sort of thing on-line, they are only valid for the value of the card and limits the amount of fraud.

I agree, I figure the seller is probably the culprit.
I do a regular scan but am currently on a different machine and running more in-depth scans to be sure.

Very sorry to hear about your predicament, and I hope that you are able to get a favorable resolution through Paypal mediation. By any chance have you done any Paypal while travelling and staying in a hotel, using your laptop and the hotel internet provider? That is how I got my AOL account hacked and suspended 3 times. I now make sure to use a secure VPN tunnel after logging into the internet at a hotel, before doing anything that requires the use of a password. Of course, my own company IT department would be able to monitor the activity, but I don't worry about that. I sure hope that you can get this fixed without being liable!

??? He's in Ho Chi Minh HONG KONG?

That really sucks...really, really sucks. But surely they'll be able to see that this is bogus, right?

Non sequitur. PayPal Security Tools would have solved your problem (as far as technology currently can) before it even started.

Remember, username/password is never secure enough.

    +1 on passwords

I also have PP linked to a separate account at a different bank.
God only knows when a bank might decide to take money form one pocket and put in another, as in the case of a dispute with a bank holding all your money.

And you might never see it coming, the law allowing a bank to do just this might be in the unread pages of an amendment added @ 03:09 AM in a upcoming bill (or maybe it's already in Cap-n-Trade ?)

You should always be very careful with your money or it will become someone else s money.

    there are three true friends
    An old wife.
    An old dog.
    And ready money.
