This may not be such a bad deal if I am reading it correctly. Ebay says that they will charge the 8.75% or $20.00 whichever is less as a final value fee.
I am planning on listing a high end bicycle that should bring over 1k. So does this mean that the max I would pay on final value is $20.00 ? I know that is what it says but I can't believe it.

You are correct Jimmy --
You get royally screwed for items that end between $26 and $508.
For items that end for more than $508, its actually not a bad deal.
For the few items that end over $508 e-bay probably makes up millions of dollars for the items that end between 26 and 508.

You know, I hear sellers and buyer's complaining about Ebay, but no one stops using it, or paying 350 for a duck, or 430 for Filarmonica. I sell Coticules and C12k Slurries. I thought about listing, but I haven't. I just use the classifieds here. It all sounds like a headache to me. A good friend of mine, Bob Keyes or Altima55 uses it all the time, and he complains too, He just started his own website. http://straightrazorpalace.com/aucti...bobsrazors.com I thought he was pulling out of ebay altogether, but nope. He still sells. So, I guess the lure of easy money is too tempting, otherwise you wouldn't do it.....I know seller's get screwed on fees and stuff like that, but what about the buyers? I can't even tell you how many times I got screwed...Thank God for Paypal....

I totally agree with you zib -- The easy money is hard to pass up. Also, I like listing things on E-bay because with RAD, its good to set a date that you KNOW that razor is getting sold. Once you list it, you have to sell it LOL
Under normal circumstances, I don't complain a lot about E-bay. I just quietly pay the fees.
However, this "promotion" got me fired up because 1) I didn't know what E-bay was doing because I never thought to look at the fine print, and 2) It seemed like a fairly underhanded / shady thing to do.
Anywho, I paid my $38.00 worth of fees on my $433 filly last week, happy to be able to reach an international market. I'll just be more conscious of what auctions I list under the promotional rate every month.

So, are there fee's in addition to the fee's u mentioned, and am I allowed to sell 5 things free of charge. I may give it a go....I'm waiting on a shipment of Coticule...
P.S. When Bob talks about Ebay, words like "Underhanded" "Screwed" and "It's just not right" come up A lot....We have assumed control !

Hi everyone, I sold some speakers on the bay to a buyer in the Ukraine and on top of the ebay fee's paypal charges 5% for international transactions.

no, thats the problem zib -- They say "List 5 items, free of charge!"
What they don't tell you is that they are going to charge a final value fee if the item sells that is 8.75%, flat rate, only on these promotional items. This is different from their normal rates. Check out this graph:
I made this up to show the differences.
The worst possible sell price would be $228.60, which would cost you over $10.50 MORE in final value fees than the non-promotional rate.
As JimmyHAD mentioned though -- anything over $508 is actually a better deal - -- Especially if you get into over $1000 items, you could save $20+ in final value fees.
