A mint C-Mon Blackie is a rare item as well as a great razor. So while it is a chunk of change I don't think it is so far out with all things considered. BTW, I have a number of C-Mons and paid a bit north of a hundred bucks each in excellent + to near mint. Sometimes you get lucky but you have to keep your eyes peeled.
+1 on Jimmy. If you have more money than patients this would be the way to go. I am just as happy with my NOS C-Mon Blackie for $35.

Yikes !! Joe, looking at some of your antique shop scores has always taken my breath away. If it wasn't so cold I swear I would move to upstate NY in a heartbeat .

He's a member here. The ones I've seen him sell are top notch. Of course if buyers are willing to spend money let them. Especially the inexperienced ignoramus' out there. It's great news for the seller.

I agree with Jimmy. My opinion: Too high? Nope. Look at that razor. Hammered tang, NOS ornate from a well known as a high quality razor. The way I see it, why would anyone think this outstanding example of a razor would be worth ANY less than high end production razors from Dovo or TI? I posted recently that I argue such pieces should IMO be worth MORE than high end new production razors. Razors such as this C-Mon are exactly the kind of vintage razor I was talking about in that thread. "A bargain at virtually any price including the price this one went for.

Edit: I see a new TI Le Grelot in Desert Ironwood scales is going for around $320. To each their own, but I gotta tell ya, I visualize that C-MON discussed here in one hand and the Le Grelot in the other, just based on aesthetics alone, and for me it's no question. I don't own either razor, so I can't comment on my opinion of one shave over another. My point is, IMO an NOS as fine as the C-MON carries high value in the realm of high valued new production razors. Plus they're ah, certainly harder to come by.

Nice one Joe. I had one just like it. The seal of the box was broken, but it seemed to have the factory edge on it. Nice shaver, esp after I took it to the hones. I valued it at slightly over $150 and sold it for that much, probably was a couple of months ago.

Actually tonight I'm going to shave with the exact same blade like the one in this ebay auction, but the scales are plain looking. Coming out of the packaging with factory edge on it too
