yes...but in reality are those C-MON better known for collectability or are they just that great of a shaving razor. Or are they just super rare?

The bid history tells me everything I need to know . A few inexperienced bidders fighting over something they think they will never see again .

They are extremely good razors, and that one is in extremely good condition. Throw in a couple of excited bidders and there ya go.

Would almost make one think the 'who cares about money' bidding/buying contagion has spread from Dubl Ducks to Cmons...

Thinks to himself, that maybe I should think about e-baying the seven C-MONs I have....

Yeah I mean its unfortunate but it seems ebay sets the market price for a lot of things. I mean I'm new to this whole straight razor thing. I don't know how much a Dubl Duck in "NOS" condition is really worth. nor do I know how much better a Goldedge is than a "Special #1". I wish there was a satandard giude I could locate for pricing on straights.

Its really not any better just fancier looking. Many areas of collectability have standard pricing guides which are updated each year and I'll tell you from what I know as a pocketwatch collector those guides are really not worth much because the values are way off. At best they are a ballpark figure. In the end you pay what you are comfortable paying for an item.

This particular example is in pristine condition and coming from a seller whose claim of 'shave ready' is well known to be valid. At least IME it is. When I wanted a new TI Silverwing I paid that much and you can buy them all day.

A mint C-Mon Blackie is a rare item as well as a great razor. So while it is a chunk of change I don't think it is so far out with all things considered. BTW, I have a number of C-Mons and paid a bit north of a hundred bucks each in excellent + to near mint. Sometimes you get lucky but you have to keep your eyes peeled.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
