Thanked: 13249"Shave Ready" Yeah right !!!
I am not sure if you have noticed, but the catch phase of the day on E-bay is "Shave Ready" So one of two things happened..
1. E-bay has very recently had a huge influx of Honemeisters...
2. Some of the super honest, wonderfully forthcoming sellers on E-bay have figured out that listing a razor as "Shave Ready" assures a sale and usually more money...
I highly suggest making sure you are buying from a reputable E-bay seller if they say shave ready,,, BTW there are very very few that sell razors...
Better yet at least check the Classifieds here or our own Vendors first..

While the extra money would be awesome I make no bones about it, none of mine are shave ready. I'd rather lose money than do a bad sale.

If someone sold me a razor on eBay marked as shave ready, but actually it wasnt, I would leave negative feedback to that effect. Especially if they had charged me more for the razor because of the shave ready tag.
Somehow I suspect that it might be a money making ploy..!

Yeah, I too find the 'shave ready' popping up on a lot of auction offerings suspect. OTOH, if it is coming from Cedarfurnitureman or Altima55 you can be sure it is on the level.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Like my brother G pointed out adding to the equation are some sellers which I know are or were a member of any of the forums suddenly add a whole lot of 'been honing for more than 7 years' in their signature while they just had a thread dating from a year ago when they bought their first hone and were asking questions about honing.
Especially beginners please if in doubt always ask if a razor is worth the purchase on the bay.

Thanked: 199+1 to this!
I know this will entice a lot of new people to buy razors on ebay, and that't not very nice or ethical to do.
For me, I never assume a razor is shave ready off ebay until I get it and take a look at it. I did have 1 or 2 that probably WERE shave ready, and not billed as such.

+1 on all of this..
"Shave ready" is the new ebay trick for sure... be careful out there
I always assume that anything I get will not be shave ready, and also that there could be problems with the razor that are not shown in pictures or in the description and ask specific questions before buying. I really think there is something to the recommendations to not but on ebay until you have some experience. But, if you are starting out and want to skip this advice... just prepare yourself in advance in case you find out you've wasted your money.
While I'm on my soap box, I also never enter in a bid that's higher than i want to pay... I have yet to see a "super rare" "one of a kind" type of deal that doesn't show up again in a week or so.

Thanked: 234It's especially nice when you pick up a razor on ebay that cuts hair! not shave ready, but oddly satisfying all the same.
It's a jungle out there guys, do not part with your money easily, you will regret it!
