I am really enjoying reading through this thread. For a new SR shaver, this is extremely valuable information. I have picked up all my DE razors from members on other forums. The first SR was also from a member on another forum. The next two, one of which won't get here for a few days, were purchased from folks here. I could save a few bucks trying to catch cheap eBay specials, but I find the risk is far greater. That doesn't mean I will never bid on an eBay razor, but it better be an amazing deal to take the risk.

Eboy is just a microcosm of society. There are crooks and cheats aplenty but most are honest folks just trying to make a buck.
You're best defense is knowing plenty about what you are interested in and watch the sellers ratings. Most honest sellers will do just about anything to make the customer happy and protect their score. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I'm immediately suspicious of a seller/razor when I click on "watch" and almost immediately get an email that the seller offered me a discounted "deal".

If it has a Buy It Now button, it's not the seller sending you the message, it's the AI, and it's about 10% off correct?
That's just the software trying to move product, I believe eBay takes a small hit in their fee's, but it's a tool to move sales along - had the same thing happen myself.

It's not for buy it now auctions, but ones where you can make an offer to the seller. Usually before I can make up my mind on it, I get an offer

Some of the offers are a little over 20% off, others a lot less.
Boy, if I bought a razor off Ebay and found that I couldn't even rehab it enough to use it....that would go over like a fart in church.

I don't sell too much on ebay, but as I recall you can set all that up when you are setting up your sale to offer deals to watchers, drop the price by a certain percent at regular intervals when it relists, etc. It works automatically until you change it, and I think is a good tool for getting a decent price on an item fairly quickly if it's not attracting too much attention. Or if you're more desperate to sell, it may help you get a less than optimal price quicker, which is good for buyers.
