Is this a Filli record?
Item # 160417281714
Had this one in my watch list just to see where it closed and it just finished at... $747.99!!
I'd seen a fair few close around $500, but never this high. Is this a new record?
It's a beautiful razor I must admit...! I just have to convince everyone that zeepks are great and maybe the filli prices will come down a bit...!
Congrats to the winner!

Man, that seller must have a serious batch of Fillies in stock.
I've bought all my my Filarmonica's from there.
They just keep coming on a weekly basis..Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 1903Oh, really? Quelle surprise! So what have we got? Spanish convenience products with toy scales, and hundreds of them. Going for USD 500+. You can get, what, 2? 3? NOS Solingen razors with decent scales for that money - from a shop that will ship them pre honed, if required. This reminds me of the buzz about W&B razors when I started shaving with straights. I have since tried a variety of them, and sold them immediately afterwards.
Anyone who thinks that buying a Filarmonica right now is a good idea is seriously wrong in my opinion (unless, of course, you are a collector, in which case it might even make sense if the development of W&B and DD prices is anything to go by). Robin's tip for beginners: One of these things will not give you a better shave than a 150 USD or so NOS 8/8. You will only make an online vendor very happy, because the only other way to get a similar profit margin trading drugs, women, or weapons.

Well, I guess you are right when it comes to getting good shaves off of other brands that go for lesser sums of money.
Even so, if people want to buy them at these prices, so what?
It isn't always about price or actual value, it is about having something you feel is right for YOU. Or maybe just that one has bought in to the hype.
I have. And i get excellent shaves off them.
I'm happy with that, regardless of what other fine razors i could get for half of the price of these "toys"..Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 1903I'm not saying Filarmonicas are bad razors. They are not. I find them visually unappealing because of their scales (we all have our little mental problems, mine being that I want my razors to have original scales).
You see, we often have people come into the chat for some hands-on shoppingg consultancy. We usally point them to the classifieds for their first razors for the reasons I laid out in my shopping list in the beginners section. Funnily enough, although they've never owned a razor, most of them want a DD, a W&B, or, recently, a "Filli". What can we learn from this?
- Once a shaving relating item enters ghetto slang territory ("Thurri", "Filly", "Coti"), prices will rise exponentially.
- The People who use ghetto slang have a knowledge of razors that is usually inversely proportional to the size of their mouth. There may be exceptions.
- Despite the fact that the members with the most experience agree that you could never tell a high quality razor from another in a double blind test, 100% of all "Filli" users agree that "Filly's" are the best razors in the market.
As I said, that's great. The more money people waste on these things, the bigger my market. BUY MORE FILLY'S!!!!

I totally agree, the scales are not the main feature of these razors!
However, I do find the Especial para barbas duras to be beautiful, except for the scales. The blade, the spine top, the rubber thingy. Nice. IMO.
However, that's not my favourite, no Sir, That honor goes to the Doble Temple #13. My favourite shaver.
I do commend you, though, original scales is a thing for me too.

As to the blind tests, that doesn't leave much for individuality, if we all should go by that, the whole straight razor thing wouldn't be this much fun if we just settled for "that Razor" and left it at that. Again, in my honest opinion.
