For that many hones, it seems like a fair price to gamble on. I'd expect to pay $15 + shipping for any one of those by itself on eBay... so you got a nice grab bag of assorted unknowns. Sounds like a HADdicts dream to me!

Default For those interested, the result are in, on the lot in question!

So...five hones: 4 synthetic carborundums and 1 very smooth and fairly hard Japanese Natural.
Pics are forthcoming, within the hour...hopefully; so that my betters may speculate on what kind. I just finished lapping. :-)

    Thanks,

    Mac

Holy cow, I'm assuming that BRICK is the Japanese natural? If it works well on your razors, that's a heck of a stone!

Looks like it might be a nice translucent Arkansas. A pink vein was visible in your photos. Any slurry when you lapped it? Was it REALLY hard to lap?

The lapped slurry, was a baby p**p yellow...pardon la France'. Similar in color to the stone, but a deaper yellow over all. The fourth photo, is the bark-like skin, on the backside of the hone.
