Thread: Dubl Duck Special

There's a local antiques store that has a Dubl Duck Special in what looks to be pretty good condition for $25. I've read a lot of people saying that they make really good shavers, does $25 sound fair?

That depends. If you need to have it restored and honed, you can factor in another 50-70 USD. By which time you might have found two perfectly serviceable razors in the Classifieds. Dubl Ducks are hyped. That does not make them bad razors, just very expensive ones. USD 25 sounds like a good deal, but with these fickle razors, you never really know.

I've decided I'll buy it and snap a picture. From what I remember, the blade looked to be in good, polished condition. No observable nicks, blunting or notches and the scales looked good and were snug.

the condition is extremely important, but only you can determine whether it's worth to you $25.

The pivot is very snug (ie. it will stay half open without the blade swinging) and scales are in solid condition. Original bluing is almost completely unblemished except a tiny bit of wear down near the point. It needs honing, for sure but no blunting or chips. I haven't done anything to clean it up at all, here's the first quick picture.

Score one for the new guy! Send it to be honed up and you're all set from the looks of it.
