I like the snipe software because it lets me bid on US auctions that seem to close at 2 or 3am UK time. Saves me from sitting up till late!
I just set the snipe with my max bid amount, stick the item in my watch list and forget about it. That way I dont get drawn into a bidding war at the last minute, and I dont give everyone else hours to outbid me.

Thanked: 2591Hey sorry to chime in so late, I won the second auction, and the sniper used is very legitimate and anyone can get it online. I never messed with the settings, I am not even sure they can be changed. I am glad that whoever was using w/e magical software if they actually did, did not win.
+1 with what Stu says, I just put my max and forget about it, if I win I win if I loose w/e Ill try again next time.Last edited by mainaman; 06-30-2010 at 12:04 PM.

Personally, I like eSnipe. Very reliable, and it works the same as all of the others here.
FWIW, I'm sure that the "max bid plus $5" will not work in any situation other than when the bid showing is already at or near the bidder's undisclosed maximum.
My point is simply that there is at least one person out there who is "sniping" in a way that is entirely alien to my experience, and you can see his strange bidding patterns in certain hone auctions. I was actually hoping that the person in question would chime in here, but no such luck.
